All About Us

 Newcastle Eye Care was founded in 2003 by the husband and wife team of Dr. Karl Lee and Dr. Nora Teo.  The office moved to its current location at 14 North Street in the fall of 2012, having previously occupied a space across the street on King Avenue.   

 Dr. Karl Lee earned his Doctor of Optometry Degree from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry.  He interned at JFK Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia and at the Scarborough Low Vision Clinic.  After practising in Bowmanville for eight years, Dr. Lee then started up Newcastle Eye Care with Dr. Teo.  He enjoys spending time with family, basketball, and is active with the church youth group.  

 Dr. Nora Teo graduated from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry in 1995.  She also completed an internship at JFK Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia, receiving extensive training in the diagnosis, treatment and management of ocular diseases.  Upon graduation, Dr. Teo worked in various optometric offices in Brampton, Mississauga, and Etobicoke before deciding to start a practice with her husband in 2003.  She is an active member in her church and her four children keep her busy. 

Krista is our office manager and student optician.  She excels at helping patients select fashion frames that look amazing and feel just right.  When not at the office she enjoys running and spending time with her family. 

Tracy joins us with extensive administrative experience in the medical field.  Her passion for learning about anything medical has driven her to constantly expand her knowledge and skills. She finds great joy in helping others and finds it particularly rewarding to witness the positive impact that glasses or contact lenses can have on a patient's vision and overall well-being. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and son and is an active member of her church community.

Sarah has been in the health care field for over 15 years and she is a mom of 2 wonderful children. She enjoys going to the cottage, traveling, and doing many different activities with her kids. Sarah enjoys working directly with patients, from checking them in to visual field testing to helping patients find the perfect frames.

Makayla is our part-time administrative assistant who enjoys helping with ancillary testing and interacting with patients. She is also busy with school, pursuing a medical career. In her free time, she enjoys reading and attending yoga classes.
